How to Share a Screen Recording

A useful screen recording shows the necessary setup, the action, and the result. Trim everything else before upload, then place the watch link where the work is discussed.

A practical framework

Work through the decision in four steps

  1. 1

    Record one clear run

Capture the bug, demo, or lesson with your existing screen recorder. Avoid notifications and unrelated windows.

  2. 2

    Trim to the evidence

Start before the first relevant action and end after the visible result. Preview locally before upload.

  3. 3

    Upload the selection

Save Replay prepares and uploads the chosen segment, then processes it for browser playback.

  4. 4

Add the link to the context

Paste the watch URL into the issue, support message, review, email, or guide with a sentence explaining what to notice.

For a reproducible bug report

Show the starting state, the exact actions, and the unexpected result. Pair the video with written environment details and reproduction steps; a recording demonstrates behavior but does not replace searchable text in an issue.

Keep the clip short enough for a reviewer to replay the critical transition. If several separate bugs are present, use separate clips and descriptions rather than one long session.

For a product demo or tutorial

Begin with the relevant screen already open, move at a readable pace, and pause briefly on the result. Remove setup that the viewer cannot reproduce or does not need.

Before upload, inspect the selected range for API keys, customer data, email addresses, private tabs, notification previews, and clipboard overlays. Use an appropriate restricted visibility when the content is not intended for broad forwarding.

Put the workflow into practice

Choose the moment before you upload it

Preview locally, select the useful range, and create one browser-ready link without an account for the basic flow.
