How to Trim a Gaming Clip Before Uploading
Replay capture is meant to record extra time around a moment. Keep that safety margin in the source file, then upload only the clutch, fail, speedrun split, or funny moment.

A practical framework
Work through the decision in four steps
- 1
Open the capture
Choose the video saved by OBS, Windows Game Bar, or your GPU replay tool in a supported browser-decodable format.
- 2
Find the first useful frame
Seek through the local preview and place the start marker just before the action needs context.
- 3
Cut the aftermath
Set the end marker after the result is clear, then play the selected range from beginning to end.
- 4
Upload the highlight
The browser prepares the selection as the clip to upload; the longer original remains on your device.
Keep enough context, not every quiet second
A highlight often needs the setup that makes the result understandable: the score, the opponent's position, or the beginning of a callout. Start a little before the decisive action, but remove menus, queues, loading screens, and unrelated play.
End after the outcome is visible or audible. Previewing the selected range is the best check that the clip feels complete without carrying the entire replay buffer into the upload.
Capture and browser compatibility
Save Replay accepts MP4, MOV, M4V, and WebM sources when the browser can decode and prepare them. The capture tool itself does not upload to Save Replay; it first needs to save a local video file.
If the browser cannot safely prepare the selected segment, Save Replay reports the limitation. It does not silently send the full original as a fallback.
Put the workflow into practice
Choose the moment before you upload it
Preview locally, select the useful range, and create one browser-ready link without an account for the basic flow.
