How to Record Gameplay Clips With NVIDIA Instant Replay

A normal recording starts when you tell it to start. Instant Replay is different: while it is enabled, the NVIDIA app maintains a rolling recording and saves the most recent window only when you ask. That makes it a good fit for a surprise goal, a bug, a rare drop, or a funny failure that you could not predict.

The replay window should be long enough to include the setup without creating a large file for every save. A short competitive highlight may need less history than a strategy-game sequence. Set the length before the session, then save soon after the event so you know which file belongs to which moment.

NVIDIA documents Alt+Z as the default overlay shortcut. Its NVIDIA app recording guide also lists Alt+Shift+F10 to toggle Instant Replay, Alt+F10 to save the current replay window, and Alt+F9 for manual recording. These defaults can be changed, so the shortcut screen in your installed app is the final reference.

If you want to record the Windows desktop or a windowed non-game application, check the Desktop capture setting under Video Capture. Protected media, some streaming tabs, and certain anti-cheat software can stop desktop capture or the active replay. Close protected content and test with a harmless ten-second recording before a session that matters.

Open the saved clip and check game audio, microphone audio, party chat, overlays, notifications, player names, and the beginning and end. A replay window often includes more than the moment itself. Keep the source until you have confirmed that the shareable cut contains the setup, action, and result.

Save Replay begins after ShadowPlay has written a local video file. It does not turn Instant Replay on or capture the game. Open the compatible recording in the browser, choose the useful start and end, preview the selected range, and upload that prepared clip instead of sending the entire replay window.
