How to Record Your Screen on Android

Google documents the common Android flow, but Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, and other manufacturers may move the tile or offer different audio choices. Use the device's current Screen recorder panel as the reference for what will be captured. If the tile does not exist after editing Quick Settings, check the manufacturer's support page for that model and Android version.

On Pixel phones, Google notes that some screen-recording steps require Android 11 or later. An older device may need a manufacturer recorder or a different supported tool. Avoid installing a random recorder until you have checked its permissions, privacy policy, and where it sends or stores video.

Touch indicators help with a tutorial because the viewer can see where you tap. They may be distracting in a game or ordinary app demo. Audio choices also vary by device and app. Record a short sample with the exact option you plan to use, then play it back with headphones.

Open the target app before starting, silence notifications, and replace real accounts or messages with sample data. Screen recording can capture status-bar information, keyboard suggestions, autofill prompts, incoming calls, and content from other apps when you switch away.

Google's current path places screen recordings in Photos under Collections, On this device, and Movies. A manufacturer gallery may show the same file in a Screen recordings album. Check the actual saved video rather than assuming the preview notification proves that audio and the last action were recorded.

Choose that local video in Save Replay when you need a short browser watch link. Keep only the setup, action, and result, preview the range on the phone, and upload the prepared selection. If a mobile browser cannot prepare the particular recording, use a compatible desktop browser or convert the source without exposing it to an untrusted service.
